The castle of Montalto in Toscana is a medieval hamlet with over 1000 years of history, surrounded by woods and farmland in the lovely and unspoiled Chianti hills near Siena.
Ten carefully restored villas and apartments, including a wing of the inner castle, are offered directly by the owner as self-catering accommodations sharing the swimming pool.
With its private chapel and banquet room, the castle is a spectacular venue for weddings and events.

The 270 hectares (about 650 acres) of land that surround the castle further reflect our love of nature and local traditions.
They are farmed using traditional methods and are certified organic, avoiding harmful pesticides, chemical fertilizers and weed killers.
Some of the farm’s produce, including organic extra virgin olive oil, honey, eggs, and fresh vegetables from our orchard, as well as wine produced by our relatives, can be purchased by our guests on site.
Montalto is a family business, owned by Diana and her four children.
Diana was born and raised in the USA before marrying the late marquis Giovanni Coda-Nunziante, descendant of a noble Italian family. She lives in the central wing of the castle. Montalto is the heart of the family and the children visit frequently.
As a family we feel privileged to own such a beautiful place and are happy to share this experience with our guests.
The experience that we are striving to provide at Montalto is above all authentic.
From the ancient but comfortable buildings to the pristine countryside and to the genuine and attentive service, nothing is fake or pretentious.
At Montalto you can go back in time and escape from your hectic life, truly living Italy’s unique history, nature and culture.
When you arrive at Montalto you will be welcomed by Chiara, who oversees all hospitality activities.

Montalto was one of the first establishments in Tuscany to be accredited under the Italian Agriturismo law of 1985.
Today’s hospitality activities have expanded to include weddings, workshops, group events and dining, in addition to vacation rentals, and we frequently organize cooking classes, concerts and themed dinners.
We are also happy to advise our guests on local restaurants or places to visit in the region, and even arrange guided tours.
